Misconceptions Of A Black Panamanian

Writer's picture: VeeVee

Growing up in Brooklyn, NY as a child of Panamanian immigrant parents it was always hard finding a sense of belonging. It was even harder trying to explain to others why my family was black, Spoke Spanish but also spoke Patois. I never fit in with other hispanics because I wasn't light enough or had soft curly hair. My Spanish wasn't perfect and I could never explain why I choose Dancehall music over Salsa. Check out my latest vlog as I explain my struggles as a Black Panamanian growing up in the US.
